About Me
I am a musical instrument accessory geek.
I’m not sure when it happened. I began working in a music store when I was 17. At that point, I was obsessed with drums and guitars, but really didn’t care much about accessories. All I knew was that my toms sounded better when I used Remo Pinstripes on them and that I shouldn’t have put steel strings on my classical guitar (a hard lesson to learn as my father equipped my guitar with a c-clamp to keep its top attached to the sides).
It may have started the first summer I was away at college. Unable to find a job at a music store, I spent the summer winding bass guitar strings at the Dean Markley string factory in Vicksburg, Michigan. I was well on my way to accessory geek-dom when I got a job in marketing at Pro Co Sound, as I was surrounded with distortion pedals and guitar cables. Finally, I reached the accessory pinnacle when I took a job as Brand Manager for Fender’s Strings, Picks, and Accessories division in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Now I live in Denver, Colorado and own a marketing agency called Drive Channel Creative. We’ll work for any musical instrument manufacturer that we believe in, but marketing accessories is our favorite.
So, what is the mission of Accessory Fetish? Well…I’m not really sure, but I’ll tell you my thoughts. There are already enough websites and blogs dedicated to guitars, drums, and other musical instruments. Frankly, it’s beginning to bore me. I can only get so excited about another signature snare drum or brand-new, worn-out guitar. I think there are a lot of innovative guitar and drum accessory products that usually don’t get enough attention. So Accessory Fetish was born! That and I miss sitting around the office talking about gear all day, so this is my way of getting out my thoughts!
